"Could/Would you do me a favor?" is used to start conversations. Simple verb forms are used for daily help requests. Informal requests use infinitives for formal situations. "Would you mind" and "Would it be too much trouble" are polite alternatives. "May I" is used when permission is required
Would comes first in affirmative verb phrases. Negative form is wouldn't, not don't/doesn't/didn't. Question form requires subject-would inversion
