67-year-old patient diagnosed with Gleason 6 prostate cancer. Tumor showed lymphovascular invasion and periprostatic lymph node metastasis. Patient classified as low risk (PSA 5 ng/mL, stage cT2a)
ADT reduces androgen levels to prevent prostate cancer cell growth. Therapy works best with radiation therapy for locally advanced disease. Low-risk patients show no survival advantage with ADT. ADT alone doesn't eradicate cancer, only decreases its aggressiveness
Staging categorizes cancer spread risk and treatment probability. Clinical staging occurs before treatment through imaging and rectal exam. Pathological staging done after treatment with biopsy
PNI refers to cancer invasion surrounding nerves. Unlike PNS, PNI affects small, unnamed nerves only microscopically. PNI is more common in head and neck, prostate, and colorectal cancers
