Olba was an ancient city in Roman province of Isauria, present-day southern Turkey. Located at foot of Taurus Mountains, on tributary of Calycadnus. Built by Ajax according to Greek mythology, containing temple of Zeus. Ruled by Zenophanes and his daughter Aba in 1st century BC. Later became Roman colony
Side was founded by Greek settlers from Cyme in 7th century BC. Alexander the Great occupied Side in 333 BC, introducing Hellenistic culture. Side became Roman province of Galatia in 25 BC, reaching 60,000 inhabitants. City declined from 4th century due to invasions and Arab raids. Side was ecclesiastically metropolitan see until 1397
