RST is a SATA AHCI driver and RAID solution built into Intel chipsets. Contains two operation modes: SATA normal and fake RAID. Supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, and 10. Includes Smart Response Technology for SSD caching
DASD is a secondary storage device with unique addresses for each physical record. Term coined by IBM for random access devices like drum memory and hard drives. Later expanded to include optical disc drives and flash memory
Drivers support AMD 9-Series, 8-Series, 7-Series, and 6-Series chipsets. RAID levels 0,1,10 supported for both NVMe and SATA RAID. Operating system/boot device must be included in RAID array
RAID combines multiple disks into logical units for data redundancy or performance improvement. There are standard RAID levels from RAID 0 to RAID 10
SATA operations include IDE, AHCI, and RAID options in BIOS/UEFI settings. IDE is the traditional standard, but AHCI and RAID are newer alternatives
AHCI is Intel's Advanced Host Controller Interface for SATA devices. Supports hot swapping and NCQ functions for improved compatibility. Requires BIOS configuration before installation on Windows 10 SSDs
