    Sûr-Dâs, Braj dilinde yazar ve sanatçının somutlaşmış halidir.

    Adı Braj'da (Delhi'nin güneyindeki bölge) «güneşin hizmetkarı» anlamına geliyorsa, güneşin kendisi olarak kabul edilir.

    Sûr-Dâs, Lord Krishna'ya hitaben birçok dua bestelemiş olmasıyla ünlüdür. Sûr-Dâs, şiirsel ve müzikal dehasını, muazzam dini şevkinin hizmetine nasıl sunacağını biliyordu.

    Sûr-Dâs'ın en ünlü eseri Sûr-Sâgar'dır («Sûr Okyanusu»).
