Patti Smith (d. 30 Aralık 1946, Chicago) Amerikalı müzisyen, rock şarkıcısı, ressam ve şair.
1975 yılında çıkardığı ilk albümü Horses ile punk rockın doğmasında en etkili isimlerden biri oldu. Smith, punkın vaftiz anası olarak anıldı. Beat şiiri performans tarzını garage rock ile birleştirdi.
Smith, çok geniş kitleler tarafından Bruce Springsteen ile birlikte yazdığı ve listelerde 13 numaraya kadar yükselen «Because the Night» isimli şarkısıyla tanınır.
