    Man Ray, 20. yüzyılın önemli Dada ve Sürrealist sanatçılarından biridir. Fotoğraf sanatında deneysel tekniklerle tanınır; solarizasyon ve rayograf (kamerasız fotoğraf) gibi yöntemlerle soyut ve gerçeküstü görüntüler üretmiştir.

    Paris'te yaşadığı dönemde Marcel Duchamp ve Salvador Dali gibi isimlerle iş birliği yapmış, Kiki de Montparnasse gibi figürleri portrelemiştir. Moda fotoğrafçılığıyla da öne çıkmış, sanat ile ticari fotoğrafçılığı harmanlamıştır.

    Çalışmaları, geleneksel fotoğraf sınırlarını aşarak avangart sanatın temel taşlarından biri kabul edilir. Eserleri, günümüzde hem sanat hem de moda dünyasında etkisini sürdürmektedir.
