    Katsuhiro Otomo, Japon manga sanatçısı, senarist ve film yönetmenidir. En ünlü eseri, 1982'de başladığı ve 8 yıl süren Akira adlı mangadır. Bu eser, 1988'de aynı adla sinemaya uyarlanmış ve büyük başarı kazanmıştır.

    Japon animasyonunun üç büyük isminden biri olarak kabul edilir. Eserlerinde bilimkurgu temalarını işlemiş, özellikle Tokyo'nun distopik bir gelecekte tasvir edildiği sahnelerle dikkat çekmiştir.1235

    Uluslararası alanda Eisner Ödülü ve Mor Onur Madalyası gibi prestijli ödüllere layık görülmüştür. Halen manga ve animasyon alanında aktif çalışmalarını sürdürmektedir.145
