    İtalya’nın Torino kentinde Luigi Pareyson ve Heidelberg’de Hans-Georg Gadamer ile çalışmıştır.

    Gianni Vattimo‘nun felsefesinin merkezinde Nietzsche, Heidegger, Gadamer ve Kuhn’un varoluşçu ve proto-postmodernist etkileri yer alır.

    Gianni Vattimo, felsefi çevrelerin dışında da eş cinsel haklarını destekleyen siyasi aktivizmi ve Avrupa Parlamentosu üyeliği ile öne çıkmıştır.

    Fikirleri feminizm, teoloji, cinsellik çalışmaları ve küreselleşme gibi farklı alanlarda geniş çaplı bir etkiye sahip olmuştur.
