    Engelhorn ailesi, 19. yüzyılda Almanya'nın Mannheim şehrinde öne çıkmış ve kimya sanayiine önemli katkılarda bulunmuş bir ailedir.

    Aile, özellikle dünyanın en büyük kimyasal şirketlerinden biri olan BASF'ın kuruluşuna ve gelişimine katkıda bulunmuştur. Friedrich Engelhorn, BASF'in kurucusu olarak şirketin liderliğini üstlenmiştir.

    BASF, 1865 yılında Friedrich Engelhorn tarafından Mannheim'da kurulmuştur. Başlangıçta boya maddeleri üretimiyle ilgilenen şirket, zamanla dünya çapında kimyasal ürünlerin lider üreticilerinden biri olmuştur.
