    François-Auguste Mignet, 19. yüzyılda Fransız tarih yazımına netlik kazandıran bir tarihçi ve gazetecidir. Fransız Devrimi üzerine yazdığı eserlerle tanınır; bu çalışmalar devrimin nedenlerini, gelişimini ve sonuçlarını analiz eder.

    Tarihçilikte nesnel ve analitik yaklaşımı benimseyerek Histoire de la Révolution française (1824) gibi önemli eserler üretmiştir. Ayrıca İspanya tarihi ve diplomatik arşivler üzerine araştırmalar yapmıştır.

    Siyasi kariyerinde Temmuz Devrimi'ne destek vermiş, Dışişleri Bakanlığı arşivlerinde görev almıştır. Tarih alanında Académie Française ve Académie des Sciences Morales et Politiques üyesi seçilmiştir.
