    Chrétien de Troyes, 12. yüzyılda yaşamış Fransız şair ve Arthur efsanelerinin önemli yazarıdır. Beş Arthur romanı (Erec, Cligès, Lancelot, Yvain, Perceval) yazmış ve bu eserlerde aşk, şövalyelik ile Kutsal Kâse arayışını işlemiştir.

    Eserleri, Marie de Champagne ve Flandre Kontu Philippe gibi soyluların himayesinde kaleme alınmış, Fransız edebiyatında romans türünün öncüsü kabul edilmiştir.

    Perceval adlı eseri, Kutsal Kâse temasını ilk kez edebiyata kazandırmış ve sonraki yazarlar üzerinde derin etki bırakmıştır.1243
