    Genel bilgiler

    Cengiz Topel (2 Eylül 1934, İzmit - 8 Ağustos 1964, Lefkoşa), Türk pilot yüzbaşı.

    1964 yılında Kıbrıs'ın Erenköy bölgesine yapılan hava operasyonunda ölen Topel, Türk Hava Kuvvetleri'nin Cumhuriyet tarihindeki ilk savaş kaybıdır.

    Topel, Hava Kuvvetleri'ne ait dörtlü F-100 kolunun lideri olarak görevlendirilmiş; Gemikonağı Limanı'nda bulunan Rum gemisini bertaraf etmek üzere dalış yaptığı sırada yara alan uçağından paraşütle atladıktan sonra esir düşmüş ve işkence görerek öldürülmüştür.

    Türkiye'de adı birçok okul, mahalle, sokak ve caddeye verilerek yaşatılır.
