After Prince Igor’s battle, the Rus’-Byzantine War ended with the signing of the Rus’–Byzantine Peace Treaty in 945. This treaty marked the conclusion of the conflict following Igor I’s second attack on Constantinople in 944, where he agreed to pay tribute and receive trade privileges.

In 945, Igor was killed while collecting tribute from the Drevlians, leading to his wife Olga’s brutal revenge against them. The Drevlian leaders were executed, and the city of Iskorosten was burned.

Igor’s death triggered a period of instability in Kievan Rus’, with Olga taking control and implementing reforms to prevent future conflicts.
