    Genel bilgiler

    MPLA (Portekizce: Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola - Partido do Trabalho; Angola'nın Bağımsızlığı için Halk Hareketi - İşçi Partisi), Angola'yı 1975 yılındaki bağımsızlığından sonra yöneten siyasi partidir.

    1961-1975 yılları arasında bağımsızlık için Portekiz ile savaşmış, 1975-2002 yılları arasında ise çıkan iç savaşta UNITA ve FNLA ile savaşmış ve zafer kazanmıştır.

    MPLA'nın esas destek aldığı yerler etnik Mbundu'ların bulunduğu bölge ile başkent Luanda'daki aydınlar olarak sayılabilir.
