    John Lewis, Amerikalı bir siyasetçi ve sivil haklar lideridir. 1987-2020 yılları arasında Georgia eyaletinin 5. bölgesinden ABD Temsilciler Meclisi üyeliği yapmış, aynı zamanda Öğrenci Şiddetsiz Koordinasyon Komitesi (SNCC) başkanlığı ve Washington Yürüyüşü gibi önemli sivil haklar eylemlerinde liderlik rolü üstlenmiştir.

    Selma-Montgomery yürüyüşünde polis müdahalesiyle sonuçlanan "Kanlı Pazar" olayında yer almış, bu eylemlerle ırk ayrımcılığının sona ermesinde kritik rol oynamıştır.

    2011'de Başkan Barack Obama tarafından Cumhurbaşkanlığı Özgürlük Madalyası ile ödüllendirilmiş, 2020'de pankreas kanseri nedeniyle hayatını kaybetmiştir.
