    Special Air Service

    Özel Askeri Birlik

    Genel bilgiler

    SAS, Birleşik Krallık'ın en seçkin ve ünlü özel kuvvet birimlerinden biri olan Special Air Service anlamına gelir.

    1941 yılında II. Dünya Savaşı sırasında David Stirling tarafından kurulmuş ve özellikle çöl savaşları için eğitilmiş bir birlik olarak bilinir.

    Zamanla görev alanı genişlemiş, modern savaşlarda ve barış zamanlarında terörle mücadele, rehine kurtarma, keşif ve özel operasyonlarda kullanılmak üzere dünya çapında tanınan bir askeri birlik haline gelmiştir.

    SAS, özellikle zorlu koşullarda hayatta kalma becerileri ve askeri stratejilerdeki başarısıyla bilinir. Birliğin eğitim programı ve operasyon yöntemleri, dünya genelindeki birçok özel kuvvet birimi için model olarak kabul edilmiştir.
