    Genel bilgiler

    Bir kurbağa türü olan kuyruklu kurbağalar "semender" olarak adlandırılırlar.

    Uzun kuyrukları olan semenderler yaşamak için dönemsel olarak hem karaya hem de suya gereksinim duyan ve yaşam sürdükleri çevreye adaptasyonları yüksek olan canlılardır.

    Dünya geneline yayılmış olan semenderler, genellikle göl ve nehir kenarları ile nemli ormanları severler. Ama çevreye adaptasyon yetenekleri çok yüksek olduğu için bu hayvanların Ekvator gibi sıcak bölgelerden Kuzey Kutbu'na yakın soğuk bölgelere kadar her yerde yayılımları mevcuttur.
