Text translation in the camera

This feature works only with an internet connection.

You can use Yandex Start to translate text in photos, ads, or road signs. To do this, point your camera at the text, and the translation will appear on top of the text in the original language.

Note

Allow Yandex Start to access your camera and files in the device settings.

  1. Open the Yandex Start app.

  2. On the Home screen in the SmartBox, tap to open Smart camera.

  3. Choose Translation mode.
  4. At the top, choose the source and target languages.
  5. Point your camera at the text or choose an image with text from your device's gallery. Wait until Yandex Translate processes the text.

Actions with translation

Tap to select an action.

  • "/>: Copy translation to the clipboard.
  • : Share the image via a messaging app.
  • : Save the image to the device.
  • : Open text in Yandex Translate if the translation is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • : Rate the translation.
  • : View the original text.
  • To see the translation of a specific word or phrase, tap and swipe over the text to view the translation. From there, you can copy the result or share it via a messaging app.
  • : Rotate the image.
