Can I organize search across multiple sites?
If you use the regular Yandex Site Search, you can add up to 50 sites to the search area.
If you use Yandex Search for online stores, the search area can include only one site — the one where the search is hosted.
Can I set up search on sites that I don't own?
No. You can set up search only on the sites that you can verify your rights to.
My site has several mirrors. Which mirror will be used in the search?
The search results will lead to the main mirror.
Which site pages take part in the search?
Only the site pages that are indexed by Yandex take part in the search.
Can I create a search form using an editor that's built into a CMS?
We don't recommend inserting the form code in HTML editors that are part of a CMS.
Some HTML editors try to secure the entered text before publishing. Because of that, even if you switch from visual editing mode to HTML editing mode, the form script may not work.
To ensure that the form script works correctly, embed it directly in the HTML code of the page. If your site uses HTML templates, embed the form code in the template file.
How do I enable ads in Yandex Site Search?
You can display ads on your site page that contains search results. To do that, place both the search results code and the ad blocks on the page yourself.
You can get ad blocks by registering in the Yandex Advertising Network.
My website uses frames (frameset). Can I show search results on a page like this?
No. Yandex Site Search doesn't support frames.
Can I change the Yandex Search form appearance for online stores?
You can't customize the standard Yandex Search forms for online stores. To use custom forms, set up search results in JSON format using the Yandex Site Search API.
How do I find out the IP address of my site?
For web hostings with standard settings, you can find out the site IP address in the following ways:
-
Use an "IP lookup" service. For example: http://www.whois.net.
-
Run the
ping
command in the console for your site domain. (To open the console in Windows, press Windows+R, entercmd
in the window that opens, and click OK).Example of a
ping
command call:ping example.com
The system will automatically detect the site IP and display it in the console.
In some cases, the IP address of the site doesn't match the IP address of the server that sends your HTTP requests. In that case, contact your hosting support for information.
What does the "Indexing has been stopped" status mean?
Search is disabled. This happens if there were no search queries for 30 days. If you want to turn search back on:
-
Open the necessary search page. To do that, find it on the My search boxes page and click its name.
-
Scroll down and click Save.
