# Theme

## App theme {#to-set-theme}

You can choose the dark, light, or system background for app elements (tabs, the SmartBox, and others).

1. Tap **App settings** → **Theme**.
1. Select one of the options:

      - **Always dark**
      - **Always light**
      - **System settings**




## Theme on websites {#sites-dark-theme}

Websites are displayed in light or dark theme regardless of the [app theme](#to-set-theme). You can also force dark theme on websites. If it makes the site look worse, you can switch to light theme.

If the light [app theme](#to-set-theme) is enabled, you can't enable dark theme on websites.

To enable dark theme on websites:

1. Tap ![](../_assets/profile-icon.png) (profile picture) on the Home screen.
1. Tap **App settings**&nbsp;→ **Theme**.
1. Select **Always dark** or **System**.
1. Enable **Dark theme for websites**.

To configure the color scheme of a specific website, you need to have dark theme enabled for all websites.

To enable light theme on a website:

1. While on the site page, tap ![](../_assets/zen-settings-1.png) to the right of the SmartBox.
1. Tap **Site light theme**.

To disable light theme for the website, tap **![](../_assets/zen-settings-1.png)**&nbsp;→ **Site dark theme**.

## Problems with the theme {#problems-with-theme}

To make the feature available, [update](https://yandex.com.tr/support/yandex-app-android-alice/en/app/install.md#toupdate) the app.

If you changed the [appearance of Yandex services](https://yandex.com/tune/common) in the settings but nothing has changed, the problem may be in the Yandex app.

[Set the same theme in the app](#to-set-theme) as in Yandex services.
