Read books
You can read books in the Yandex app. Download a book, choose your convenient mode, and start reading.
Note
Supported book formats: EPUB, FB2, and MOBI.
Add a book to the library
Note
To make the function available, update the app.
To open the library, on the top panel of the home screen, tap → Reader and select the Books tab.
The Books tab appears if you downloads include files of other formats.
Add a book:
To find a book, use the SmartBox.
Download the file, and it will be automatically added to the library.
You can open the book immediately after that. To do this, tap Read on the panel at the bottom of the screen.
Open the downloaded book in the notification bar
- Open the notification bar (to open the bar, swipe down from the top of your smartphone screen).
- Tap the file name. After opening the file, a notification about it will not be displayed in the bar.

Tap → Upload from device.

Select the file on your device.
The book will be added to the library.
Open
- On the home screen, tap → Reader.
- Select the tab Books and click on the book.
- On the home screen, tap → Reader.
- Select the Books tab and tap a book. This will open the page where you left off.
Every book has a icon indicating the percentage that you've read.
Open the book in another reading app
- To the right of the book name, tap → Open in...
- Select a reading app from the list.
Read
Tap the right edge of the screen to turn the page, and the left edge to return to the previous page.
To open settings, tap the center of the screen. In settings mode, you can:
- : Open the table of contents. To go to a specific chapter, tap its title.
- : Change the font size and margins. To change the font size, tap or . Adjust the text width on the screen by tapping one of the icons.
- : Listen to the book.
- : Switch to the dark theme. To switch back to the light theme, tap .
- Downloads: Open the library.
- Navigation slider: Jump to the page you need. At the bottom of the screen, drag the slider left or right.
Listen
You can also listen to books in the app. You can choose between a female or male voice. To listen to a book:
- Open a book.
- Tap the center of the screen.
- Select .
While listening, you can control the narration on the bottom panel:
- : Pause.
- : Continue reading.
- : Skip 10 seconds back.
- : Skip 10 seconds forward.
- : Select reading speed and voice. If the normal speed doesn't feel right, select fast or very fast reading. You can also select a female or male reader here.
- : Turn off reading. To make the icon appear, first tap .
Delete
Note
If you remove a book from the library, it remains in your device's memory.

On the home screen, tap → Reader.

To the right of the book name, tap .

In the menu that appears, select Remove.
Share
You will be able to share the book via other apps:

On the home screen, tap → Reader.

To the right of the book name, tap .

In the menu that appears, tap Share.
Settings
Sort books
- On the home screen, tap → Reader.
- Go to the tab Books.
- In the upper-right corner of the screen, tap .
- Select the desired option in the Sort by:
- Recent — books will be sorted by the date of the last opening.
- Download date — Books will be sorted by the date they were added to the library.
- Name — Books will be sorted alphabetically.
Download settings
- On the home screen, tap → Reader.
- In the upper-right corner, tap → Settings.
- Configure download settings:
- File storage: Select a folder to save books.
- Download files without asking: Enable the option for automatic downloads.
Search in downloaded books
- On the home screen, tap → Reader.
- Tap .
- Enter the book title in the search bar.
