# Importing a page from a file

## Adding text from a file to a page {#text}
To add the contents of a TXT file or DOCX document to a page:
1. Open a page or [create a new one](https://yandex.com.tr/support/wiki/en/create-page.md).
1. On the toolbar, click **Other actions**, then select **Import**. This will open the import window.
1. Click **Select file** and choose a TXT or DOCX file.
If you select a file with an unsupported format, you'll see an error message.
The contents of the selected file will be uploaded to the page:
- When you upload a TXT file, its entire content will be copied onto the page. If the text contains [markup elements](https://yandex.com.tr/support/wiki/en/wysiwyg/text-format.md), they will be displayed correctly.
- If you uploaded a DOCX document with formatting elements, its text will be converted to [YFM markup](https://yandex.com.tr/support/wiki/en/wysiwyg/text-format.md).
## Creating a static table from a file {#static}
You can add a static table to the page using data from a CSV or TXT file.
1. Create a CSV or TXT file with data for your table. The cell values in the file must be separated by a comma, semicolon, or tab character.
For example, you can save an MS Excel file in CSV format.
1. Open a page or [create a new one](https://yandex.com.tr/support/wiki/en/create-page.md).
1. In the visual editor or markup mode, click → **Import table from CSV** on the toolbar.
To access a quick menu in the visual editor, type `/` and select a command from the list.
1. In the window that opens, click **Select a file** and choose a CSV or TXT file.
1. If needed, specify the characters used to separate cells. By default, the separator is detected automatically.
1. If you don't want to add empty rows from the file to the table, select **Skip empty lines**.
1. Check the preview of the table and click **Save**.
A multi-row table with the file's data will be added to the page.

## Adding data to a dynamic table {#table}
You can import data from CSV or TXT files to dynamic tables:
1. Save your spreadsheet, such as an MS Excel file, in CSV format. Alternatively, you can create a TXT file where the cell values are separated by a comma, semicolon, or tab character.
1. Open a dynamic table or [create a new one](https://yandex.com.tr/support/wiki/en/wysiwyg/grid.md#add).
1. In the top right corner of the table, click → **Import data from file**.
1. In the **Loading data from file** window, choose a CSV or TXT file.

A single table can have no more than 1000 rows and 300 columns.

1. Specify the characters used to separate cells and format rows.
1. If the file contains column headers, enable **The first line contains headers** option. Otherwise, headers with column numbers will be added automatically.
1. Select import destination for each column from the file:
* **New column**: Place the column to the right of the existing columns.
* Existing column: Append the data to the selected column.
* **Ignore column**: Exclude the column from the import.
1. Select the data type for the new columns.
1. Click **Upload data**.

## Visual editor {#editor}
To add a table:
1. On the toolbar, click **Table** → **Static table**.
You can also use the quick access menu: type `/` and select a command from the list. {#slash}
1. To add rows or columns, hover over the table edge and click where you want to add new elements.
1. Fill in the cells. You can format text in the table cells.
To edit a table, hover over it and click above the column or at the beginning of the row. Then choose an action from the menu:
* Add a row or column.
* Clear row or column cells.
* Delete a row or column.
* Delete a table.
* Drag a row or column to a new position using the icon.

## Markdown markup {#yfm}
[Multi-row tables](#multiline) allow you to add multi-row content such as lists, code snippets, and other tables to a single cell.
[Simple table](#simple) cells can only contain inline formatting elements: text formatting, images, and links. In addition, simple tables support left-aligned, right-aligned, and centered cell text.

Simple tables can only be added in Markdown mode.
You can convert a simple table into a [multi-row](#multiline) table in the visual editor. To do this, select a table cell, click , and choose **Convert to YFM table**.

### Multi-row table {#multiline}
To add a multi-row table, use the following markup:

To highlight the header row in the table, you can apply [formatting](../wysiwyg/text-format.md) to the text in the first row. For example, you can make it bold.

### Simple table {#simple}
To insert a basic table into your text, use the following markup:

### Aligning text {#align}
In [basic tables](#simple), you can left-align, right-align, and center the contents of a column. To do this, use colons (`:`) in the table's separator row.
