# Time spent

In Yandex Tracker, you can keep track of the time spent on issues. With time tracking, you can plan project deadlines and budgets more effectively and identify the problem areas in how your team handles the issues.

You can choose from two time tracking options:

## Basic time tracking {#limited-spent-time}

Basic time tracking offers three parameters for estimating work effort:

* **Original Estimate**. We recommend specifying the time you plan to spend on the issue before you begin.
* **Estimate**. Use this field to estimate how much longer you plan to work on the issue.
* **Time Spent**. This field displays the total of all entries about spent time.

If the **Estimate** field contains a value, it updates with each new Time Spent entry:

* If you leave the **Original Estimate** field empty, whenever you add a new time entry, the value of the **Estimate** field will decrease by the specified amount of time.

* If the **Original Estimate** field contains a value:

   When the **Time Spent** value is greater than the **Original Estimate**, the value of the **Estimate** field decreases by the difference between the other two fields.

   Subsequently, whenever you add a time entry, the value of the **Estimate** field will decrease by the specified amount of time.

   Fill in the **Time Spent** field.

   If you omit the unit, the field will default to the time unit specified in the queue settings. For example:

   * 1 week and 3 days: `1w 3d`.
   * 3 hours, 20 minutes, 30 seconds: `3h 20m 30s`.

   Fill in the other fields if needed:

   * **Date to log work for**. Specify the date and time in your local time zone.
   * **Comment**. Add a comment to a worklog entry. The comment will appear in the [issue's change history](https://yandex.com.tr/support/tracker/en/user/history.md), in the [history of time tracking entries](https://yandex.com.tr/support/tracker/en/user/time-spent.md#records-history), and in the [report on time spent](https://yandex.com.tr/support/tracker/en/user/reports.md#time-spent-report).
       The parameters available depend on the [queue's time tracking settings](https://yandex.com.tr/support/tracker/en/manager/queue-spent-time.md#settings).

1. Click **Save**.

You can add multiple entries, and the specified time will be added together. In basic tracking mode, you can only change Time Spent entries using [API requests](https://yandex.com.tr/support/tracker/en/api-ref/issues/patch-worklog.md).

Time spent can be specified by the assignee or other users with access to the issue. The [report on time spent](https://yandex.com.tr/support/tracker/en/user/reports.md#time-spent-report) shows a separate total for each employee who logged time for the issue.

### Viewing time spent {#show-time-spent}

You can view the time spent in the **Time Tracking** parameters on the issue page or in the [report on time spent](https://yandex.com.tr/support/tracker/en/user/reports.md#time-spent-report).

If the issue doesn't feature **Time Tracking** parameters, add them:

1. At the bottom of the section with issue parameters, click **Edit parameters list**.

1. In the **Time Tracking** category, select **Time Spent** and **Estimate**.

## Advanced time tracking {#extended-spent-time}

For [advanced time tracking](https://yandex.com.tr/support/tracker/en/user/time-spent.md#extended-spent-time) in the Yandex Tracker mobile app:

1. Open the time tracking section using one of the following methods:

    * Open the issue page, go to **Parameters**, and then go to **Time Tracking**.

   Fill in the **Time Spent** field.
