Recommendations and rules for publishing reviews
To ensure that Yandex services feature only helpful reviews, we've created a set of rules for submitting them. If your review doesn't comply with these rules, it may be deleted.
You can report any review if you believe it violates the rules. Our moderators will check the review and delete it if they confirm a violation.
Recommendations for authors
Warning
The following recommendations are only suggestions, not requirements. We don't delete reviews that don't follow them, even if the reviews seem uninformative or contain mistakes.
For your reviews to be helpful to other users, make sure they are:
1. Detailed
Describe in detail what you liked and what you didn't like: the service, timing, product or service quality, or your experience with the staff.
Try to provide specific examples: for example, instead of "There's always a waiting line here," consider writing "I had to wait 30 minutes in line today." This way, your review will be more informative for other users and help the organization understand and address the relevant issues.
2. Clear and straightforward
Avoid using specialized terminology, complicated phrases, and jargon. Write in a way any user can understand, regardless of their experience or age.
3. Polite
Avoid using rude or obscene language and refrain from insulting the company's employees, reputation, and customers, or users of the service.
If there was a conflict, share the details respectfully, avoiding insults or personal attacks. Maintaining a respectful tone makes your review more compelling and improves the chances of it being published.
In some cases, when a review is published, insults and offensive language may be replaced with asterisks (***). However, please try to use appropriate wording in your review.
4. Well-written
Try to avoid mistakes and typos.
Don't use transliteration.
Refrain from excessive use of capital letters, exclamation marks, smileys, and emojis.
5. Relevant
Reviews help users make informed decisions today. If too much time has passed, your information may become outdated: staff may get replaced, service quality may change, and conditions may get better or worse. Write about your recent experiences to ensure your review is relevant.
6. Add photos or videos
Enhance your review with photos or videos to help other users make informed decisions. Make sure your photos and videos are relevant to your review and don't contain private information.
We don't publish photos and videos that:
- Have low quality (for example, are dark or blurry).
- Are not related to the organization.
- Violate the rights of third parties.
- Show private messages.
7. Avoid publishing the same review on multiple platforms
Users regard unique reviews as more valuable and helpful.
8. Free of requests to Yandex
Avoid using reviews as a way to request help or solve a problem.
Note
Following these recommendations will make your review more helpful to companies and other users.
Publication rules
We don't publish reviews that violate our rules. To ensure that your review passes moderation:
1. Describe your personal experience
Your personal impressions and feelings after interacting with the company are the most important part of the review. We don't publish feedback based on another person's experiences. For example, we don't allow reviews such as:
-
"A friend of mine said this store is a total ripoff. I don't recommend shopping here".
-
"My wife went to this salon and didn't like it".
-
"My neighbor complained that their food doesn't taste good".
Note
This being said, we allow writing reviews on behalf of minors or elderly relatives who are unable to leave a review themselves.
2. Be specific
If you want to leave a review of a chain company, find the branch you visited in Yandex Maps. Avoid publishing identical reviews for multiple branches of the same chain. Such reviews won't be published.
We also don't publish reviews that cover the chain as a whole rather than a specific branch. For example, if you ordered from an online store, leave your review on the store's page instead of the page of its physical branch.
3. Free of personal information
Don't include your or other people's personal information in your reviews.
Do not disclose:
- Phone numbers, email addresses, postal addresses, and social media links.
- Legal details (passport, driver's license, SNILS, INN/TIN, and bank card information).
- Information related to health, nationality, political views, religious beliefs, personal life, or criminal records.
Don't attach photos and videos of employees without their consent.
4. Avoid writing about your work experience at the company
Most people that read reviews are potential customers, not employees. Avoid describing your experience as the company's employee: such information won't be useful to other users.
5. Refrain from posting ads or spam
We delete reviews that contain ads. For example, this may happen if you mention another company and encourage others to use its services instead.
Avoid writing about the company's competitors or making comparisons to them. For example: "The cupcakes are decent, but Sweet Tooth cupcakes taste better. You should shop at that store instead" or "Not bad, but the coffee shop next door is cheaper. I go there now".
Note
This rule doesn't apply to mentions of popular marketplaces, comparisons to shut down businesses, and comparisons to branches of the same chain company. If an author posts too many promotional reviews, we may block their account.
6. Do not write misleading reviews
We consider a review to be fraudulent if its author didn't interact with the company and posted it in exchange for a monetary reward or at the request of a friend or acquaintance. Such reviews won't be objective or helpful to other users, so we may reject or remove them.
Additional rules may apply across different services. For example, you may leave a review for a discount, but don't leave a positive feedback just to get the bonus.
7. Do not use violent or discriminatory language
Refrain from posting texts or images that may evoke strong negative feelings, such as horror, panic, or disgust.
Avoid using language or images that may be considered discriminatory based on religion, ethnicity, or any other grounds.
Avoid threatening others or making calls for violence in your comments.
8. Refrain from posting adult content
We delete all reviews containing erotic or pornographic text or images, or scenes that depict smoking.
If you're the owner of an organization, see the Manage reviews section for information on how to work with reviews.
