Recommendations and rules for publishing reviews

To ensure that Yandex services feature only helpful reviews, we've established the rules that all reviewers must follow. If a review doesn't comply with these rules, we may delete it.

You can report any reviews that you believe violate the rules. Our moderators will check the review and delete it if they find a violation.

Recommendations for reviewers

For your reviews to be helpful to other users, make sure they are:

1. Detailed

Describe in detail what exactly you liked and didn't like. This will help users make informed decisions and provide organizations with feedback to address mistakes.

2. Clear and straightforward

Try to avoid professional terminology, complex wording, and metaphors that might be unclear to other users.

3. Polite

Avoid using rude or obscene language and refrain from insulting the company's employees, reputation, and customers, or users of the service.

If you experienced a conflict, describe the situation in detail without aggression or insults.

4. Free of personal information

Don't include your or other people's personal information in your reviews, such as contact information, home addresses, or details about personal life and relationships.

5. Well-written

Try to avoid mistakes and typos.

Don't use transliteration.

Refrain from excessive use of capital letters, exclamation marks, smileys, and emojis.

6. Relevant

Reviews help users make informed decisions today. So, it's not the best idea to review a hospital you last visited a decade ago. Instead, tell us about something that happened recently and is relevant now.

7. Free of requests to Yandex

To contact support, use this form. Select the topic of your request and provide a detailed description of the situation.

Publication rules

We don't publish reviews that violate our rules. To ensure that your review passes moderation:

1. Describe your personal experience

Your personal impressions and feelings after interacting with the company are the most important part of the review. We don't publish feedback based on another person's experiences. For example, we don't allow reviews such as:

  • "A friend of mine said this store is a total ripoff. I don't recommend shopping here".

  • "My wife went to this salon and didn't like it".

  • "My neighbor complained that their food doesn't taste good".

2. Be specific

If you want to leave a review of a chain company, find the branch you visited in Yandex Maps.

We don't publish reviews describing general experiences with a chain as a whole.

3. Avoid writing about your work experience at the company

Most people that read reviews are potential customers, not employees.

4. Refrain from posting ads or spam

We delete reviews that contain ads. For example, this may happen if you mention another company and encourage others to use its services instead.

Avoid writing about the company's competitors or making comparisons to them. For example: "The cupcakes are decent, but Sweet Tooth cupcakes taste better. You should shop at that store instead" or "Not bad, but the coffee shop next door is cheaper. I go there now".

This rule doesn't apply to mentions of popular marketplaces, comparisons to shut down businesses, and comparisons to branches of the same chain company.

If an author posts too many promotional reviews, we may block their account.

5. Do not write misleading reviews

We consider a review to be fraudulent if its author didn't interact with the company and posted it in exchange for a monetary reward or at the request of a friend or acquaintance. Such reviews won't be published.

Do not agree to write a review if you're offered a discount in exchange or asked to show its text at checkout. Such reviews won't be objective or helpful to other users, so we won't publish them either.

6. Do not use violent or discriminatory language

Refrain from posting texts or images that may evoke strong negative feelings, such as horror, panic, or disgust.

Avoid using language or images that may be considered discriminatory based on religion, ethnicity, or any other grounds.

Avoid threatening others or making calls for violence in your comments.

7. Refrain from posting adult content

We delete all reviews containing erotic or pornographic text or images, or scenes that depict smoking.
