# Other route settings
## Change the cursor {#cursor}

The cursor marks your current location on the map as you follow the route and in **Navigator** mode. By default, it looks like this:

<div class="striped-none">
<div class="border-none">

#|
||
![](_assets/navigator-on-map.svg)
|
For car and truck routes.
||
||
![](_assets/myplace-mark.svg)
|
For pedestrian routes.
||
||
![](_assets/icon-bike-scooter.svg)
|
For bicycle and scooter routes.
||

|#

</div>
</div>

To change the appearance of the cursor for car and truck routes:
1. <!-- source: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step1.md -->
   Tap **![](_assets/profile-icon.svg) (profile picture)**. If you haven't logged in, tap ![](_assets/menu-burger.svg).
   <!-- endsource: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step1.md -->

1. <!-- source: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step2.md -->
   Tap **Settings** → **Navigation**.
   <!-- endsource: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step2.md -->

1. Tap **Car icon** and select the cursor you prefer.

## Lock the map orientation north up {#nord}

To lock the map's orientation to always point north up while en route:

1. <!-- source: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step1.md -->
   Tap **![](_assets/profile-icon.svg) (profile picture)**. If you haven't logged in, tap ![](_assets/menu-burger.svg).
   <!-- endsource: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step1.md -->

1. <!-- source: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step2.md -->
   Tap **Settings** → **Navigation**.
   <!-- endsource: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step2.md -->

1. Enable **North is always up**.

{% note info %}

If this setting is enabled, the map is displayed in 2D in [Navigator](https://yandex.com.tr/support/m-maps/en/navigator.md) mode.

{% endnote %}

## Enable automatic map scaling {#autoscale}

To enable or disable automatic map scaling while traveling along a route:

1. <!-- source: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step1.md -->
   Tap **![](_assets/profile-icon.svg) (profile picture)**. If you haven't logged in, tap ![](_assets/menu-burger.svg).
   <!-- endsource: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step1.md -->

1. <!-- source: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step2.md -->
   Tap **Settings** → **Navigation**.
   <!-- endsource: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step2.md -->

1. Turn the **Auto-zoom** option on or off.

## Avoid toll roads {#toll-road}

When plotting a car route that includes toll roads, you may see the costs of using them.
That's how it can look like:
 - ![](_assets/toll-roads-2.svg) — the costs for the entire route are shown if we know them.
 - ![](_assets/toll-roads-1.svg) — if we don't know the cost, it's not displayed.

 Cost data is provided by toll road operating companies.

To plot routes avoiding or including toll roads:

1. <!-- source: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step1.md -->
   Tap **![](_assets/profile-icon.svg) (profile picture)**. If you haven't logged in, tap ![](_assets/menu-burger.svg).
   <!-- endsource: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step1.md -->

1. <!-- source: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step2.md -->
   Tap **Settings** → **Navigation**.
   <!-- endsource: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step2.md -->

1. Turn the **Avoid toll roads** option on or off.

Yandex Maps ignores this setting if:
- The route can only be plotted with toll roads.
- You're plotting the route in [offline mode](https://yandex.com.tr/support/m-maps/en/offline.md).
- You're already on a toll road.

You can also configure the **Avoid toll roads** option when [plotting a route](https://yandex.com.tr/support/m-maps/en/start-building-route.md).

## Avoid bad and unpaved roads {#bad-road}

To plot routes avoiding or including bad and unpaved roads:

1. <!-- source: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step1.md -->
   Tap **![](_assets/profile-icon.svg) (profile picture)**. If you haven't logged in, tap ![](_assets/menu-burger.svg).
   <!-- endsource: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step1.md -->

1. <!-- source: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step2.md -->
   Tap **Settings** → **Navigation**.
   <!-- endsource: en/_includes/reusables/id-navigation-settings/step2.md -->

1. Turn the **Avoid bad and unpaved roads** option on or off.

{% note info %}

If the route can only be plotted with bad or unpaved roads, Yandex Maps will ignore this setting when plotting the route.

{% endnote %}

You can also configure the **Avoid bad and unpaved roads** option when [plotting a route](https://yandex.com.tr/support/m-maps/en/start-building-route.md).
