# Traffic

## Traffic jams on the map {#jam-map}

There are multiple ways to show traffic jams on the map:

- Tap **![](_assets/layers.png)** → **Traffic**.
- Tap ![](_assets/jams.png). While the data is loading, the button may flash yellow.

In some cities, the button displays information about the traffic level using a ten-point scale, where 0 points means that the roads are clear, and 10 points means that it would be quicker to walk.

{% note alert %}

Traffic level indication is available in Russia, Türkiye, and Kazakhstan.

{% endnote %}

The level of traffic congestion is indicated by color:

![](_assets/nav-stop-green.png) — Roads are clear.
![](_assets/nav-stop-yellow.png) — Light traffic.
![](_assets/nav-stop-red.png) — Traffic.
![](_assets/nav-stop-noroad.png) — Gridlock.
![](_assets/nav-stop-blue.png) — No reliable data.

Traffic information is provided by Yandex Maps users. This data is sent anonymized and confidential. The more often the data is received, the more accurate and up-to-date the information on the map is.

Information on the map is updated as new data becomes available. If the traffic situation changes, Yandex Maps may suggest alternative or faster routes.

## Traffic in the widget {#jam-vidget}

{% note warning %}

For the widget to work properly, it needs background location access. If location access is disabled, enable location detection during widget installation.

{% endnote %}

You can use the widget to assess traffic congestion. If you added your [Home/Work](https://yandex.com.tr/support/m-maps/en/save-places.md#home-and-work) addresses, the widget will show how much time it will take you to get there. If traffic information is not available, the widget shows the distance to these points.

There are two types of widgets available for Yandex Maps: [on the home screen](#home-screen) and [on the lock screen](#block-screen).

### On the home screen {#home-screen}

The widget shows your location on the map, traffic congestion, and the traffic level. You can change the widget size depending on the available free space on the home screen.
