# Find my location

When you first open Yandex Maps, the app will ask for permission to access your location. This helps provide accurate recommendations, plan routes effectively, and show information about nearby places.

## Current location {#my-place}

Your location is determined automatically if location detection is enabled in your device settings. You can use the map to:

**See where you are**

**Determine your location**

    To determine your location, tap the ![](_assets/myplace-out.svg) button so that it changes to ![](_assets/myplace-in-center.svg). When you do this, the map centers on your location placemark.

**Rotate the map to match your direction**

    For easier navigation, you can rotate the map to match your direction. To do this, tap the ![](_assets/myplace-in-center.svg) button so that it changes to ![](_assets/myplace-my-dir.svg). The button only appears on the home screen when you [select a route](https://yandex.com.tr/support/m-maps/en/route-transport.md), when you follow a [walking route](https://yandex.com.tr/support/m-maps/en/route-movement.md#on-foot), and in [Transport](https://yandex.com.tr/support/m-maps/en/transport.md) mode.

**Navigate using the compass**

    The ![](_assets/to-north_1.svg) button is displayed when you rotate the screen or follow a route. The red arrow on the compass points to the north. To keep north always up, tap that button.

If your location [can't be determined](https://yandex.com.tr/support/m-maps/en/my-place-not-found.md), the ![](_assets/myplace-not-determined.svg) button appears instead.

## Share your coordinates {#share-coordinates}

You can share your location or the coordinates of a point on the map.

  1. Tap ![](_assets/myplace-mark.svg) to see your exact address and coordinates of the placemark.
  1. Share the coordinates using one of the following methods:
      
      - Tap ![](_assets/link.png) and select the service or messenger where you want to share the link to your coordinates.
      - Tap the value in the **Coordinates** field and send the copied coordinates using your preferred service or messenger.
      
  

- Map point
  
  
  1. Tap and hold the starting point.
  1. Select **See what's here**.
  1. Share the coordinates using one of the following methods:
      
      - Tap ![](_assets/link.png) and select the service or messenger where you want to share a link to the coordinates of the map point.
      - Tap the value in the **Coordinates** field and send the copied coordinates using your preferred service or messenger.
