# Yandex Forms MCP server

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard protocol for connecting external tools to AI assistants and corporate systems. With the Forms MCP server, you can create, configure, and fill out forms. You can also retrieve collected responses and pass them to an AI assistant for analysis.

## MCP server capabilities {#capabilities}

Through the MCP server, the assistant gets access to the public Forms API and can:

- Create and modify forms.
- Add and modify questions.
- Configure question display conditions.
- Fill out forms. For example, to create Tracker issues via a form.
- Retrieve responses for a selected period and pass them to an AI assistant for analysis.

## Response analysis {#analyze-answers}

The MCP server receives structured form responses. The connected AI assistant analyzes the data: calculates distributions by answer options, identifies recurring themes in open responses, categorizes responses, and prepares a summary.

In a single call of the `get_answers` tool, you can retrieve up to 500 responses. If there are more responses, request them for several periods.

To retrieve responses, the token user must have access to the form and its responses. For more information about working with responses, see the description of the [Get responses method](https://yandex.com.tr/support/forms/en/api-ref/answers/events_b2b_v1_views_answers_get_answers_public_view.md). User permission requirements are described in [Access API](https://yandex.com.tr/support/forms/en/api-ref/access.md).

For example, ask the assistant:

> Get the responses of the form `<form_ID>` from `<period_start>` to `<period_end>`. Calculate the distribution by answer options, identify recurring themes in open responses, and prepare a brief summary.

## How to connect {#setup}

To connect the Forms MCP server to an AI assistant:

1. Get an OAuth token for accessing the Forms API. For more information, see [Access API](https://yandex.com.tr/support/forms/en/api-ref/access.md).

1. Find out the organization ID. In Tracker, open **Administration** → **Organizations** and copy the value of the **ID** field.

1. Add the MCP server configuration to the AI tool settings. Specify the URL and headers from the table below.

Connection parameters:

#|
|| **Parameter** | **Value** ||
|| URL | `https://mcp.forms.yandex.net` ||
|| Organization ID |
One of the values:
* `X-Org-Id` header for an organization in Yandex 360 for Business
* `X-Cloud-Org-Id` header for an organization in Yandex Cloud ||
|| `Authorization` header |
One of the values:
* OAuth token in the `OAuth <token>` format
* IAM token in the `Bearer <token>` format — only for an organization in Yandex Cloud ||
|#

{% note info "" %}

For more information about authorization methods, see [Access API](https://yandex.com.tr/support/forms/en/api-ref/access.md#headers).

{% endnote %}

## Connection examples {#connection-examples}

The way to add the MCP configuration depends on the tool. Usually, it is enough to specify the MCP server URL and the required headers.

### Codex configuration example {#codex-example}

To add the Forms MCP server to Codex, add the following to the `.codex/config.toml` file:

```toml
[mcp_servers.forms-oauth]
url = "https://mcp.forms.yandex.net"
http_headers = {
    "X-Org-Id" = "<organization_ID>",
}
env_http_headers = {
    "Authorization" = "FORMS_OAUTH_TOKEN",
}
```

The `FORMS_OAUTH_TOKEN` environment variable must contain an OAuth token in the `OAuth <token>` format.

### Claude Code configuration example {#claude-code-example}

To add the Forms MCP server to Claude Code, run the following commands:

{% list tabs %}

- Unix

   ```bash
   export FORMS_OAUTH_TOKEN="OAuth <token>"
   ```

   ```bash
   claude mcp add --transport http forms-oauth https://mcp.forms.yandex.net \
       --header "X-Org-Id: <organization_ID>" \
       --header "Authorization: $FORMS_OAUTH_TOKEN"
   ```

- Windows

   ```cmd
   set "FORMS_OAUTH_TOKEN=OAuth <token>"
   ```

   ```cmd
   claude mcp add --transport http forms-oauth https://mcp.forms.yandex.net ^
       --header "X-Org-Id: <organization_ID>" ^
       --header "Authorization: %FORMS_OAUTH_TOKEN%"
   ```

{% endlist %}

The `FORMS_OAUTH_TOKEN` environment variable must contain an OAuth token in the `OAuth <token>` format.

### Yandex AI Studio configuration example {#ai-studio-example}

To connect the Forms MCP server via MCP Hub:

1. In [Yandex AI Studio](https://aistudio.yandex.ru/), select a folder.

1. In the left panel, expand **Agent Atelier** and select **MCP servers**.

1. Click **Create MCP server** and select **External MCP server**.

1. Specify the server name and click **Create**.

1. In the **URL** field, specify `https://mcp.forms.yandex.net`, then select the `Streamable HTTP` transport.

1. In the **Authorization type** field, select **Access token** and add the headers:

   - for an organization in Yandex 360 for Business — `Authorization: OAuth <OAuth token>` and `X-Org-Id: <organization_ID>`;
   - for an organization in Yandex Cloud — `Authorization: Bearer <IAM token>` and `X-Cloud-Org-Id: <organization_ID>`.

1. Click **Connect**. In the **Tools** block, select the required tools and click **Save**.

1. In the left panel, select **Agent Atelier** → **Agents** and create or open an agent.

1. In the **Tools** field, click **Add**, select **MCP server**, and specify the saved Forms MCP server.

For more information, see the AI Studio instructions on [connecting an external MCP server](https://aistudio.yandex.ru/docs/ru/ai-studio/operations/mcp-servers/connect-external) and [creating an agent](https://aistudio.yandex.ru/docs/ru/ai-studio/operations/agents/create-agent-ui).

{% note warning "" %}

The Forms MCP server makes requests on behalf of the token user and with their permissions. Authorization via an AI Studio service account does not replace a user OAuth or IAM token. Do not enable the **Make MCP server public** option, do not publish a gateway with a user token, and do not add real tokens to examples.
