FAQ about unlimited auto-uploads and Yandex Disk space

Why do photos and videos uploaded to unlimited storage take up space on my Yandex Disk?

Yandex 360 plans offer unlimited auto-uploads. If you don't have an active Yandex 360 plan, the photos and videos uploaded to Yandex Disk from your phone take up space.

I see the message "There may not be enough space". What does it mean?

If your Yandex Disk stores more files than it can fit (including the photos and videos uploaded to unlimited storage), it means you've run out of space.

For example, you can upload up to 5 GB to your Yandex Disk. Your uploaded files are 2 GB, and you have 3 GB of free space. If photos and videos from unlimited storage take more than 3 GB, you have no free space left on your Yandex Disk.

To avoid this, you can:

  • Activate a Yandex 360 plan. The photos and videos uploaded from your phone will remain in unlimited storage, and you'll be able to upload new ones without limitations. How to activate the plan?

  • Delete unnecessary files. For example, photos and videos from unlimited storage or any other files. You can download all the photos and videos from unlimited storage to your computer following the instructions and then delete them from your Yandex Disk. Make sure to empty the trash — files in it also take up space.

How can I view photos and videos uploaded to unlimited storage?

You can view photos and videos that don't take up space on Yandex Disk:

  • In the web version. Select Photo → sorting options → From unlimited storage.

Where can I find sorting options?

  • In the mobile app. Select AlbumsCameraUnlimited uploads.

If you can't find the Unlimited uploads sorting option in the menu, this means the photos and videos from unlimited storage already take up space on your Yandex Disk. You can view them in the Photo section along with your other photos and videos. If you want to apply the sorting option to view the files from unlimited storage only, activate a Yandex 360 plan.

How can I upload photos and videos to unlimited storage again?

Activate a Yandex 360 plan following the instructions. After the plan is activated, the files uploaded from your phone (both old and new ones) won't take up space on Yandex Disk.

For example, in the 200 GB plan, you can upload up to 200 GB of files and as many photos and videos as you want. With unlimited auto-uploads, only files take up space on Yandex Disk.

What happens to my files if I don't activate a Yandex 360 plan?

If you have enough space on your Yandex Disk, you can store files, photos, and videos there as usual.

If there are more files on your Yandex Disk than it can fit, you run out of space. After that, you can use Yandex Disk with restrictions for 44 days. For example, you can download files and folders to your computer, but you can't upload anything new to Yandex Disk. To remove the restrictions:

  • Activate a Yandex 360 plan. The photos and videos uploaded from your phone will no longer take up space on your Yandex Disk. How to activate the plan?

  • Delete unnecessary files. For example, photos and videos from unlimited storage or any other files. You can first download all the photos and videos from unlimited storage to your computer following the instructions and then delete them from Yandex Disk and empty the trash (files in the trash also take up space).

If you don't do this within 44 days, your Yandex Disk will be blocked — and you won't be able to access or unblock it yourself. To regain access, you'll need to contact support.

If you don't unblock your Yandex Disk within 90 days from the date you ran out of space, all your files will be deleted.
