Video extensions are currently in beta testing. Access to creating video extensions is restricted. To take part in the beta testing, contact Yandex via the form below or use the services of an ad agency.
Video extensions allow you to turn your text ads into video ads. Just as for all Yandex.Direct ads, you only pay for clicks.
Short videos (up to 15 seconds in length) are created for all Text & Image Ads. Your ad's title, text, and link will be used. Yandex adds a button and a background video from its video library. You can skip the video extension after the third second.
Ads with video extensions are served on ad networks (on sites and in streaming videos).
How to take part in beta testing
To take part in testing, choose a Text & Image Ads campaign with Text & Image ads where network impressions are enabled. Send Yandex the number of your campaign via the form below or use the services of an ad agency. Your request to take part will be considered within a week.
Working with video extensions
Video extensions are added to the new Text & Image ads in Text & Image Ads campaigns. Your ad's title, text, and link will be used in your video extension. For each ad a background video with a suitable theme is selected from Yandex's video library. Several advertisers may choose the same video background. Therefore, Yandex does not serve an ad with the same video background to the same customer more than once in 30 days.
Where necessary, age restrictions and warnings will be automatically added to video extensions. Make sure that the video clip is suitable for you, your ad theme and matches your ad text. To view the resulting video extension, click on its title.
Ad campaigns with video extensions must have ad network impressions enabled in their strategy settings. Impressions are possible for keywords, retargeting lists and behavioral targeting. The theme of the background video clip is not taken into account.
The ad can be served both with and without a video extension. You cannot disable impressions for ads that do not have video extensions.
It is possible to edit the video extension on the ad editing page. In the Ad extensions section, choose . New video extensions can be created with the Creative Ad Builder.
You can add a video extension to multiple ads at the same time via XLS/XLSX files.
Statistical analysis can help you evaluate the performance of ads with video extensions. You can use the Report Wizard to make these evaluations. For example, you can compare the productivity of video extension ads with image ads via the Formats cross-section.
An video extension ad impression will be counted after the first frame of a video is displayed, while a click will be counted after the button is clicked. If you want to see ads in which users clicked on video extensions, then in the Cross sections section, choose Ad №, Click position. In Columns, select Clicks. Then add the filters and .
Group campaign management
You can add video extensions immediately to several campaigns at once using mass campaign management tools. On the “My campaigns” page, check the boxes next to the names of the campaigns you want to change. A list of possible options will appear at the bottom of the page. Choose Add to all Text & Image Ads and click Apply.
At any moment you can disable video extensions from several campaigns immediately. On the “My campaigns” page, check the necessary boxes, select Remove from all Text & Image Ads and click Apply.
If you want to disable the addition of video extensions to new ads, then on your Yandex.Direct User settings page, uncheck the box marked automatically add to new Text & Image Ads in the Video extensions section.
