Zoom, font, and encoding

Zoom

Note. You might accidentally change the page zoom, for example, by pressing Ctrl as you scroll the mouse wheel. To return to normal zoom, click the icon on the right side of the SmartBox.
Zoom for all pages

To set the same zoom settings for all the pages:

  1. Tap  → Settings.
  2. Open Websites.
  3. In the Page zoom section, select the desired page zoom from the list.
Zoom for a specific page

To change the zoom on a page:

  1. Tap .
  2. In the menu that opens, click a button:

    — zoom out

    — zoom in

    — full screen

The zoom level you set is stored in Yandex Browser. The next time you open the page, it uses your selected zoom level.

To clear zoom settings for specific pages:

  1. Tap  → Settings.
  2. Open Websites.
  3. In the Page zoom section, click Sites advanced settings.
  4. Select the desired sites.
  5. At the bottom of the screen, click Remove.

Press Ctrl and scroll the mouse wheel forward.

Font

To set the same font for all pages:

  1. Tap  → Settings.
  2. Open Websites.
  3. In the Font size session, click Font settings.
  4. Select which fonts and text size you want to use.

Blurry, faded, or fuzzy font

Disable ClearType

Disable ClearType antialiasing in Windows settings.

  1. Open the Windows Control panel.
  2. Go to System → Advanced system settings (in Windows 10, this section is called System and Security).
  3. On the Advanced tab, go to the Performance section and click Settings.
  4. On the Visual effects tab, deselect the Smooth edges of screen fonts option.
Turn off GDIPP

If you have GDIPP installed, disable it temporarily and check how fonts are displayed.

Disable FXAA

Disable the global FXAA smoothing function in the video card settings:

  1. In the Windows notification area, launch the video card manager.
  2. Go to the 3D graphics management section.
  3. Disable the FXAA smoothing.

Delete the Roboto font

In browsers based on the Chromium engine, fonts sometimes fade. In this case, deleting the Roboto font may help:

  1. Open the Windows Control panel.
  2. Open Fonts.
  3. Select the Roboto font and click Delete above the list of fonts.

Text encoding

If the text on a page is not displayed correctly, use encoding auto detection, or try changing the page encoding manually.

  1. Click  → Advanced → More tools → Text encoding.
  2. Set the page encoding that you believe is correct, or select Automatically from the list.
Attention. Displaying text in uncommon languages requires installing additional fonts on your computer.
