Save time by using SmartBox, voice search and page search to quickly find answers to your questions. In Yandex Browser for Mobile, you can also search for information using images.

Search with Yandex

Yandex Search combines search and artificial intelligence technologies, allowing you to quickly receive the most relevant and complete answers to your prompts.

Yandex Search provides answers to users' complex questions. The neural network generates structured, detailed, and source-verified answers with illustrations and videos.

For example, to find out whether a flight from London to Beijing takes longer than one to Hanoi, a user would have to search for flights to each city separately. Yandex AI automatically breaks down this and similar questions, quickly finds the most relevant sources, analyzes them, and combines its findings into a single answer.

After receiving an answer from Yandex AI, you can ask follow-up questions or request a clarification in conversation mode. The service remembers the context of your last question.

Yandex AI provides up-to-date information and source links in its answers. For example, you can use Search with Yandex to find the dates of upcoming concerts and festivals or details and results of your favorite team's game.

Ask a question

Ask a question in Yandex Search in your own words. The more details you provide, the better the answer will be.

Yandex AI analyzes your query and generates an answer from several sources relevant to your query. Yandex AI relies on sources at all times, except when generating texts and images or solving mathematical problems.

1. In Yandex search, ask a question using text, or an image:

   • Describe your question or problem. The more information you provide, the more relevant the answer will be. For example, don’t just ask “What can I make for breakfast?”, but “What can I make for breakfast for two if I don’t have bread or milk at home, but I have eggs, flour, cheese, and butter?”
   • To ask a question about an image, tap the and select a picture in the search window. You can also search by any image in the Images section. You can clarify the question using text. For example, you can upload a photo of a bird you saw at a park and ask what it eats.

   Note

   Allow Yandex Browser to access your camera and files in the device settings.

2. Yandex AI will start analyzing sites and prepare a single generalized answer in a conversation format with source references.

3. In Yandex's AI answers, you can:

   • Clarify prompt: Add more details or ask a follow-up question, then tap .
   • Ask a question by voice: In the input field, tap .
   • Go to the source: Select a source link from the list and tap on it.
   • Rate answer: Tap or .

Search with Yandex features

• Text generation

  Note

  Log in with Yandex ID to use text generation.

  Yandex AI can generate text based on your pompt, for example: an essay, a term paper, a poem, a fairy tale, a slogan for an advertising campaign, or a business letter.

  1. In Yandex search, enter a prompt: for example, write a fairy tale about three little pigs. Yandex AI will generate the text.
  2. Tap Copy to copy the text.
  3. To rate the text, click or .

• Mathematics
  Yandex AI can solve text-based problems and math equations up to and including the 11th grade.

  1. Enter the problem or equation in the search bar, and Yandex AI will provide an answer, even if there's no ready-to-use solution yet.
  2. The answer will be hidden so that you can test your skills. To see it, just tap it.

• Smart Camera
  Smart Camera is a camera available in Yandex Browser for mobile. It can recognize objects, tell you what it sees, recognize and translate text, scan documents, and compliment your photos. Yandex uses the Smart Camera to tell you what's in the image and what you can do with it. Upload a photo of an unknown fruit, a puzzling symbol (for example, on clothing), or a diseased plant. Yandex will analyze the image and tell you what it is and what to do.

  1. In Yandex Search, tap .
  2. Take a photo of an object or choose an image from the gallery. Yandex will tell you what's in the photo.
  3. Clarify your question using text or voice.

About technology

1. To generate answers in Search with Yandex AI, the search algorithms select the most relevant materials from the internet.
2. The selected materials are analyzed in real time using neural networks.
3. The information found is compiled into a concise answer with links to the materials used.

SmartBox

The SmartBox is the main element in Yandex Browser that you use to enter site addresses and search for information. The SmartBox is found in the upper part of the browser.

When you're browsing online, the SmartBox may disappear to allow more space for viewing websites. If you want to see it again, tap the bottom edge of the browser.

Enter a search query or go to a website:

1. Use the SmartBox to enter search terms, a URL, or the name of a website.

2. Tap the enter button on the virtual keyboard.

Yandex Browser automatically detects whether to show you a website or search results.

Search suggestions

: Popular searches (tap a search to put it into the SmartBox).

: Similar searches (tap a search to put it into the SmartBox).

Voice search

Voice input can be used for both search queries and website addresses. The voice search language is set automatically to match the system language on your tablet. To start a voice search, tap on the right side of the SmartBox.

Change the voice search language

1. Tap → Settings.

2. Go to Search → Voice input features.

3. Tap Voice search language.

4. Chose your voice search language.

Find on page

1. Tap → Find on page.

2. Enter a word or phrase to search for.

The browser shows you all the matching words on the page. To browse the search results, use and . To close the search, tap on the left.

Text search

To get more information about something:

1. Select a word or a phrase:

   • Tap and hold to select a word.

   • To select multiple words, tap the first word and then move the slider to the right.

2. Tap Find in Yandex in the bar above the SmartBox.

The result will be shown in Yandex search results.

Image search

You can use Yandex Browser to search for similar images or take a photo of an object and find out what it is. Image search uses Yandex computer vision algorithms. The search results will show exact copies of your image and similar images. For example, similar images may be photos of kittens of the same breed.
