Established in 2011, one major business unit in Yandex is our ride-sharing service, Yandex.Taxi. Yandex.Taxi has captured the majority of the ride-sharing market in Russia and several neighboring countries. The business offers services similar to Uber, Lyft, Gett, and similar operations around the world. In late 2016, Yandex.Taxi established Yandex Self-Driving. Their goal is to develop autonomous driving technologies that can power the Yandex.Taxi fleet and other automotive platforms. The Yandex Self-Driving team will be opening their newest office in Ann Arbor.

Yandex is seeking a Technical Project Manager to oversee the operation and testing of our autonomous vehicles, which run proprietary software and hardware.

Professionalism, attention to detail, and personal accountability are key attributes, as you will be expected to adhere to the culture of safety and standards of conduct exemplified by the team. You will also be required to pass a number of training milestones both inside and outside the vehicle.

Tasks that await you

  • Collaborate with our software engineers, hardware engineers, and software operations specialists to advance our technologies
  • Operate and test autonomous Yandex vehicles on the road and in the lab
  • Coordinate the work of safety drivers and their daily tasks
  • Utilize proprietary software to collect data and troubleshoot in a variety of real world situations while simultaneously providing detailed and accurate feedback to our engineers
  • Occasionally interact with members of the public to educate them on autonomous vehicle technologies and behaviors
  • Focus on safety first

We expect that you

  • Knowledge of any programming language
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and responsible
  • Capable of working independently or in small groups without direct supervision
  • Proficient written and spoken English
  • Valid driver's license with at least four years of driving experience

It'd be a plus if you

  • Understanding of current automotive industry trends
  • Able to learn and operate new vehicle equipment (networks, GNSS, cameras, LiDARs, radar)
  • Competent with Linux, git, Docker, and CAN bus
